Using Permissions

When you are granted permissions, you can then present content during a meeting. When the chair creates a meeting, they decide whether or not everyone has permission to present. However, the chair can grant and revoke permissions during the meeting. For example, at the beginning of a meeting all participants may have permissions to present, but the chair can revoke permissions during the meeting.

In addition, the system administrator can specify that those joining a meeting from a particular server are not allowed to sharing their screen or to control someone else's screen.

Permission to Present

The chair must give you permission to present before you can present information during a meeting. Permission to present allows you to:

  • Draw on the whiteboard: Use the annotation tools to annotate a file or draw on the whiteboard.
  • Add and share slides
  • Share your screen: Share your screen or a computer program.
  • Control a shared screen: Control a screen or computer program that someone else is sharing. (Before you can control the shared screen, the person who is sharing the screen must allow others to control the screen.)

Note The administrator determines what permission to edit/share allows you to do. For example, the administrator can disable the ability to control the screen or use a whiteboard.

Viewing Your Permissions

After you attend a meeting, the bottom of the Participant list displays whether you have permission to present.

To see all participants who have permission to present, at the top of the Participant list click Show and select Presenters.

Asking for Permissions

You can ask for permissions by:

  • Sending a private chat message to the chair: Double-click the chair's name in the participants list. When the floating window appears, enter your request in the text-entry area and click Send. The message appears in a private floating window on the chair's screen.
  • Note Some participants might not have permission to chat. This permission is set by the server administrator.

  • Sending a message with group chat: See Communicating with Group Chat for more information.

Tip Before sending a message to the chair, you might want to raise your hand to get the chair's attention.
